FTD Participates in Congressional Action Days on Capitol Hill

Each year, the Society of American Florists (SAF) heads to Washington D.C. for Congressional Action Days (CAD). This year, floral representatives are presenting our industry’s most critical issues to approximately 26 members of Congress, congressional aides, as well as several senators on March 12. SAF’s 7,000 association members represent all segments of floristry: retailers, growers, wholesalers, importers, manufacturers, suppliers, educators, students and allied organizations. FTD is a proud supporter of CAD and sends representation to join the lobbying event on Capitol Hill.

Everyone Loves a Parade…Especially when it’s the Rose Parade®!

New Year’s Day 2019 marked the 130th year for the annual Rose Parade® themed “The Melody of Life.” Viewers enjoyed 40 creative, awe-inspiring floats, along with marching bands from around the world. Once again, FTD served as the Official Floral Company and decorators of the official VIP vehicles in the parade, and for the first time as Sponsor of the prestigious Rose Parade Float Awards. The iconic Mercury Man logo was included on the 24 banners that introduce each winning float, increasing brand awareness along the parade route to more than 700,000 people, as well as during the television broadcast of the parade to more than 44 million households nationwide!

Dreams Do Come True for USA Designer Competing in FTD World Cup

From California dreaming to living the American dream, Katharina Stuart says that representing the United States of America in the 2019 FTD World Cup is, well, a dream come true. In summer 2018, she won the FTD America’s Cup in Washington, D.C. There, she competed against nine of the country’s top designers, where each completed four design challenges.

Paul Jaras AIFD Prepares to Represent Canada in FTD World Cup

As the winner of Canada’s third annual Maple Leaf Cup earlier this year, Paul Jaras earned his way to compete in the FTD World Cup in March 2019 representing the country. The host of Canada’s national competition, Heather de Kok AAF, AIFD, PFCI, described Paul’s three creations in the event as, “very architectural, very linear and a grand opening piece that was mind-blowing.”

Making Masterpieces with a Master

Living and working in Victoria, British Columbia, Rob Jennings is quite used to seeing beauty on a grand scale. The city offers ocean and mountain vistas wherever you roam. Known as the City of Gardens, Victoria’s temperate climate enables some of Canada’s most famous gardens to bloom year-round. But as FTD’s 2018 “Intern with Ian” winner, Rob was able to experience beauty on a whole other level.

This four-day experience provided Rob an opportunity to work side-by-side with world-renown floral designer Ian Prosser AIFD and his team on a couple of extravagant events in the Tampa, Florida area.

Indiana Flower Shop Wins 2018 Makeover Contest

Maggie and Moe’s Poplar Flowers & Décor owners Greg and Molly Barrett purchased the Terra Haute business less than one year ago and immediately had a vision for growing their new business. When Molly entered the FTD Makeover Magic contest, she stated that her goal is “to drive more traffic into the flower shop by creating a warm and inviting showroom, which showcases all of our flowers and gifts.” As the winner of the contest, her vision is now a reality with the expert help of FTD Education Consultant J. Keith White AIFD. FTD sat down with Molly and Keith to learn more about their experience working together to transform the flower shop.

Katharina Stuart Claims FTD America’s Cup Victory

Ten of America’s most talented floral designers faced off in the FTD America’s Cup at the 2018 AIFD National Symposium in Washington, D.C. At stake? The honor of representing FTD and the United States in the FTD World Cup, which will be held at the Philadelphia Flower Show in March of 2019. The World Cup of flowers is the most prestigious international design competition and is held every four to six years.
