Celebrate American Flowers Week
The week of June 28 through July 4 is American Flowers Week! According to the celebration’s founder, Debra Prinzing, creator of Slowflowers.com, the week was designed to “raise consumer awareness and unite America’s flower farmers with the U.S. flower industry.”
Florists are encouraged to showcase American-grown red, white and blue blooms on their social media platforms throughout the week and tag them #americangrown to help spread the word about the campaign. Currently, American-grown flowers account for about 20 percent of the cut flowers sold in the U.S. California is the most proficient flower-producing state.
