Celebrating 75 Years with FTD – Relles Florist

In case you missed it, FTD is thrilled to continue the recognition of more members of our florist network who are celebrating 75 years of membership this year. We honored these long-standing members with a shop visit and an anniversary plaque to display in their storefronts as a token of appreciation from FTD. Celebrating 75 years of membership and learning about the hometown stories associated with these floral shops has been such an amazing experience.

During these shop visits, we were able to discuss origin stories with several shops, one of which being Relles Florist, in Sacramento, CA.

Today, Jim and Tom, owners of Relles Florist share the origin story of their family owned and operated floral and gift shop. Relles Florist began in October 1946 when their father opened this storefront. Two short years later, they became an FTD member when looking for a reliable, trustworthy avenue to send out of town orders.  

Jim’s and Tom’s personal history getting involved in their father’s shop began with part-time work there during the holidays in High School. In these coming years, this led into delivery driving and eventually coming in to work full-time. Unfortunately, their father passed away in January 1972, leaving a remarkable legacy to be passed onto the siblings to operate full-time.

Throughout the years, Relles Florist has thrived, as they pride themselves on their ability to accept change. They also attribute their success to surrounding themselves with a dedicated staff and bringing on even more staff during peak holiday times. Jim says, “we provide excellent service and quality products to the community and customers, making sure we can serve them when they want to purchase flowers and gifts.”

Relles Florist impacts their community by providing quality products and services. They are proud to say that they employ approximately 19 people, providing economic impact and job availability to the community.

Relles Florist is confident that the future will be bright — Jim’s son, Colby, will be taking over the business. Congratulations on 75 years of membership, Relles Florist!
